A lack of, or not enough, clear Calls to Action

This is a very common thing small businesses forget about on their site.

Instead of leaving your visitor guessing about what to do, or where to go, or how to proceed, your site should guide them to the next step with clear calls to action.

A call to action (CTA) is exactly what it sounds like. Coaxing, guiding, prompting your visitor into taking a specific action.

It’s not necessary to be clever with your wording, or to try and trick your visitor into doing something. All you need is a simple instruction or direction.

Simple examples (usually links) include: ‘Contact Us Today’; ‘Get Started Now’; ‘Leave a Comment’; ‘Yes, Sign Me Up’; ‘Add to Cart’; ‘Buy Now’; ‘Learn More Here’…

Have these CTAs prominent and unmissable – in various places where it makes sense. Don’t leave your visitor guessing or hunting, or giving up and leaving the site!
